Why we built it

You asked. We listened — twice.

Door window and back wall window on the Window Edition

3,000+ SweatBoxes are already heating garages, spare rooms, and home gyms across the country — a compact hemlock cabin that pairs full-spectrum infrared with real red light therapy, running off a standard wall outlet, with open space on both sides once you're inside. The Window Edition is what happened when we asked those owners — and the people who almost bought — what they'd change.

Our owners wanted more heat, faster

So we gave the High Heat build stronger 150W bulbs, more output, and hand-selected straight-line wood rated for 180°F. Then they asked for shielding around the bulbs, and we added Faraday cages. The Window Edition carries all of it forward.

And the people who didn't buy told us why

Over and over, it came down to one worry: would it feel closed in? Our actual owners have never told us it does — the wide-format design leaves open space on both sides and room above your head. But we understood that for some people, not being able to see out was a dealbreaker before they ever sat inside one.

So we built the version with windows. One in the door, one across the back wall. Now you can keep an eye on your kids, your dog, the TV, or the rest of the gym — without ever opening the door and letting the heat out.

What makes it the Window Edition

Four additions. Every one of them requested.

Looking through the etched door window at someone inside the sauna
Addition 01

A window in the sliding door

Set at eye level in the door panel, with the Sweat Box mark etched into the glass. Stay connected to the room without breaking your session — or losing a single degree.

Back wall window above the red lights
Addition 02

A second window on the back wall

A long horizontal window running above the red light bulbs. Two sightlines instead of one — and daylight from behind that makes the whole cabin read open rather than enclosed.

Faraday cage around the red light bulbs
Addition 03

Faraday cages around the bulbs

Metal mesh enclosures surround each 150W bulb, containing electromagnetic fields right at the source — layered on top of a build already tested below 2 milligauss.

Sliding fresh air vent
Addition 04

A sliding fresh-air vent

Slide the wooden panel open for a draw of fresh air mid-session, then close it to hold the heat. Full control over airflow without ever opening the door.

What's inside the box

Every detail earns its place.

Home gym corner. Garage. Studio nook. If you have sixty by forty-two inches, you have room for a real sauna — and the 110V outlet you already have is all the infrastructure you need.

"Will it feel closed in?"This is the exact question the Window Edition was built to answer. The wide-format design already leaves open space on both sides, room to stretch your legs fully, and air above your head — and now two windows let light in and let you see out. Compact where it lives. Open where you sit.

The science of our light

All three infrared ranges. Every session.

Most saunas give you one slice of the spectrum. Our custom incandescent bulbs emit one continuous band from 550 to 3,000+ nm — the way the sun does — and our low-EMF panels deepen the far-infrared range further.

NIR · 700–1,400 nm

Near infrared

Penetrates deepest — into muscle, joints, and connective tissue. Absorbed by mitochondria to boost ATP: cellular repair, less inflammation, faster recovery, better circulation.

MIR · 1,400–3,000 nm

Mid infrared

Targets soft tissue just beneath the skin — expanding blood vessels, easing chronic muscle tension and joint pain. Most LED saunas deliver no MIR at all.

FIR · 3,000 nm–1 mm

Far infrared

The deep, enveloping warmth of a classic sauna. Gently raises core temperature — profuse sweating, heat-shock proteins, and the full relaxation response.

Why our red light wins

Real glass bulbs vs. plastic LED panels.

Nearly every sauna now advertises "red light therapy" — and nearly all of them do it with LED panels. We're one of the only saunas delivering red light through real incandescent glass bulbs. Here's why that difference matters every single session.

Sweat Box — incandescent glass bulbs
550 → 3,000+ nm · one continuous band, like sunlight
Typical LED red light panel
660 nm + 850 nm · two thin slivers — no MIR, no FIR

✦ Our incandescent glass bulbs

  • The full spectrum, like sunlight — a glowing tungsten filament emits one continuous band from 550 to 3,000+ nm, covering visible red, NIR, MIR, and FIR.
  • Heat + light from one source — the same bulb warms you and delivers light therapy at once. Heat opens your blood vessels; light activates your mitochondria to use that oxygen. Scientists call it photothermal synergy — each amplifies the other.
  • Flicker-free glow — a heated filament has thermal inertia and can't strobe, so the light stays smooth for the whole session.
  • No electronics against your body — just glass and filament, now inside a Faraday cage. Certified EMF below 2 milligauss.
  • Durable & replaceable — a bulb swaps out in seconds, so your sauna outlasts the trend.

Their plastic LED panels

  • Two wavelengths only — 660 nm and 850 nm, then nothing. No mid-infrared, no far-infrared. Targeted, but incomplete.
  • Light without heat — LEDs run cool, so the heat comes from a separate system bolted alongside. Two independent systems, zero synergy by design.
  • Flicker is possible — LED drivers cycling on AC power can strobe invisibly, a subtle stressor during long sessions.
  • Circuit boards inches away — drivers, controllers, sometimes wireless components sit right beside your body the whole time.
  • Sealed plastic housings — when a diode fails, you're replacing the entire panel.

Fit perfectly in my home gym — honestly made the space look cooler. It's infrared and the heat source is right in front of you, so everything feels hotter even after a few minutes. Love using it alongside my cold plunge.

Bought three for my Airbnbs. Needed to separate my listings from the competition — adding a sauna was an easy upgrade that's already led to more bookings.

Went with the High Heat upgrade and I'm glad I did — 180° with infrared feels like a fully different tier of sweat. Best money I've spent on recovery.

Faraday cage shielding around the red light bulbs

Unfinished hemlock — nothing to off-gas

Sanded and left completely raw: no stains, varnishes, or chemical sealants. Inside a heated sauna with open pores, the air you breathe should be warm, pure wood — nothing else. Hemlock is dimensionally stable, naturally decay-resistant, hypoallergenic, and odor-neutral when heated.

Certified low EMF — and then Faraday cages on top

Household appliances typically emit 2–400 mG up close. The sauna you sit inside stays at or below 2 mG — thanks to simple filament bulbs with zero onboard electronics, shielded wiring, grounding, and certified low-EMF panels. On the Window Edition we went further: a metal mesh Faraday cage surrounds each bulb, containing electromagnetic fields right where they originate. It was one of the most-requested upgrades from our owners, and it's standard here.

Questions, answered

Everything you'd ask us first.

Under the hood they're the same sauna: 180°F max temperature, four 150W full-spectrum bulbs, five 200W infrared panels, hand-selected straight-line wood, and the same 60" × 42" footprint on a standard 110V plug. The Window Edition adds four things — a window in the sliding door, a second window across the back wall above the red lights, Faraday cages around every bulb, and a sliding fresh-air vent. If you want to be able to see out — to keep an eye on kids, a pet, the TV, or the rest of your gym — this is the one.
Honestly, because of the people who didn't buy. Our owners have never told us the SweatBox feels claustrophobic — it's consistently the biggest surprise for first-timers, since the wide-format design leaves open space on both sides and room above your head. But some potential customers told us the lack of a window was enough to stop them. We took that seriously and built a version with two.
Current lead time on the Window Edition is 8–12 weeks. We're a true American small business building in limited batches, and ordering now locks your price and your place in line. We'll keep you updated on your build as it moves through production.
A Faraday cage is a conductive metal mesh that contains electromagnetic fields at their source. Our build was already third-party tested below 2 milligauss — well under most household appliances — but enclosing each bulb adds another layer of shielding between the electrical components and you. It came directly from customer requests, and it's standard on every Window Edition.
Only when you want it to. The vent is a wooden panel that slides open and closed on the interior wall, so you control it entirely from your seat. Slide it open for a draw of fresh air, close it to hold temperature. Left closed, it's sealed like any other wall panel.
Genuinely easy. Fewer than ten modular pieces fit together like a puzzle, all electrical arrives pre-wired, both windows and the vent come pre-installed in their panels, and it plugs into any 110–120V outlet — no electrician, ever. One person, one screwdriver, 45 minutes to an hour. Some framing pieces are ~40 lb, so a second set of hands helps.
0% APR financing through Klarna and Affirm for up to 24 months, FSA and HSA payments via TruMed, and a deposit option that locks in sale pricing while you pay the balance before fulfillment. Because we're based in Oregon, there's never sales tax.
This version is designed for indoor use. For patios, decks, and backyards, the SweatBox Outdoor is built from insulated Canadian cedar with an elevated base and an included all-weather cover — and it also reaches 180°F. Click here to view the SweatBox Outdoor →
Safety drives the design: certified low-EMF panels tested below 2 mG, Faraday-caged bulbs, an automatic shut-off timer, and temperature controls. As with any sauna, consult your doctor first if you're pregnant or have heart or blood-pressure conditions.
