The SweatBox Outdoor reaches up to 180°F in as little as 45 minutes, depending on ambient temperature. It’s powered by 12 near-infrared (NIR) red light therapy bulbs—including four high-output 200W bulbs—delivering the intense, full-body heat you’d expect from a traditional sauna. Why We Use Incandescent — and Why It Matters

Most saunas on the market today include "red light therapy" — but not all red light is the same. Here is a straightforward breakdown of the difference.

The Light Spectrum

Our custom tungsten-filament bulbs emit a broad, continuous spectrum of light from 550–3,000+ nm — covering visible red, near-infrared (NIR), mid-infrared (MIR), and far-infrared (FIR). This closely mirrors the warmth of natural sunlight.

Typical LED Saunas
LED panels emit narrow, targeted bands of light — usually just two wavelengths: 660nm (red) and 850nm (near-infrared). Targeted, but incomplete.

Heat + Light: Two Separate Things vs. One Unified Experience

In an LED sauna, the heat and the red light come from two separate systems — they happen to run at the same time, but they are independent of one another.

In a Sweat Box sauna, every incandescent bulb delivers both heat therapy and light therapy simultaneously from the same source. Scientists call this photothermal synergy: the heat opens your blood vessels and increases circulation, while the light activates your mitochondria to use that increased oxygen more efficiently. Flicker

LED lights can flicker due to how they respond to alternating electrical current. Even invisible flicker can be a subtle stressor during long sessions.

The Outdoor SweatBox is powered by 12 near-infrared (NIR) red light therapy bulbs — including four high-output 200W bulbs — delivering a complete, continuous infrared spectrum that covers all three therapeutic ranges. Here is what each one does for your body.

Near Infrared (NIR) — 700 to 1,400 nm

Near infrared is the shortest and most penetrating infrared wavelength. It travels through the skin and reaches deep into muscles, joints, and bone — where it is absorbed by the mitochondria and used to produce ATP, your body's cellular energy currency. NIR is the wavelength most closely studied for red light therapy benefits: reduced inflammation, accelerated tissue repair, improved circulation, and enhanced recovery. The Outdoor SweatBox's 12 NIR bulbs deliver this wavelength with intensity — driving a deep, full-body photobiomodulation response with every session.

Mid Infrared (MIR) — 1,400 to 3,000 nm

Mid infrared penetrates the soft tissue layer, improving blood vessel dilation, lymphatic drainage, and muscle recovery. Reaching up to 180°F, the FIR range from our incandescent bulbs — combined with the fully insulated Canadian cedar construction — locks in radiant heat and drives the kind of deep, sustained sweat that traditional sauna users love. FIR raises core body temperature, activates heat shock proteins, and supports the thorough detoxification that comes from a long, powerful session.

Low EMF — Designed for Daily Use

EMF (electromagnetic field) exposure is a genuine consideration when you are spending 30–45 minutes inside any electrical device. The Outdoor SweatBox is built with the same low-EMF philosophy as our entire product line.

Our incandescent NIR bulbs produce therapeutic heat and light through simple thermal emission — no microcontrollers, no LED drivers, no wireless electronics packed into the panel. This keeps EMF output inherently low at the light source itself. Combined with our certified low-EMF construction, wire shielding, and grounding technology, the Outdoor SweatBox measures consistently below 2 milligauss (mG) — well within the range considered safe for daily, extended use.

Unfinished Canadian Cedar — Pure, Natural, and Built to Last

The Outdoor SweatBox is crafted from premium Canadian cedar that is sanded and left completely unfinished — no stains, no varnishes, no chemical coatings of any kind.

Cedar is one of the most respected woods in sauna construction for good reason:

• Naturally aromatic — Canadian cedar produces a clean, pleasant natural scent when heated that many users find deeply relaxing. This comes from the wood's natural oils, not from any added chemicals.
• Naturally antimicrobial — Cedar's natural oils inhibit the growth of bacteria, mold, and mildew — making it an ideal choice for an outdoor sauna exposed to humidity, rain, and temperature swings
• Naturally insulating — Cedar's cellular structure provides excellent thermal insulation, helping the sauna hold heat efficiently and reducing energy consumption
• Naturally weather-resistant — Cedar contains natural preservatives that protect it from moisture, insects, and rot without any chemical treatment required
• Zero off-gassing — Because the wood is unfinished, there are no stains or sealants to release volatile organic compounds (VOCs) when the sauna heats up. You breathe clean, warm, cedar-scented air — nothing else.

For an outdoor sauna that reaches 180°F, the absence of chemical finishes is especially important. At high temperatures, treated wood can release compounds you do not want to be breathing in a sealed space. Our cedar needs no treatment — and so it gets none.

We are a true American small business with growing but limited capacity. Due to high demand we do sell out during peak seasons and occasionally have lead times. We highly recommend placing your order now as lead times generally increase throughout peak seasons.

Current Lead Time for the Outdoor Sweatbox: Estimated at 7-10 weeks

We highly recommend placing your order now as we anticipate our lead time will only increase. In prior years, our lead time has reached as long as 16 weeks. With that said, we will do our best to maintain it at a low lead time but as orders continue to grow, we cannot guarantee inventory.

Returns

At Sweat Box Saunas, we understand that sometimes you might need to return a product. We offer a 14-day return window starting from the day you receive your order. For our full refund policy and details please visit our FAQ & Policy Page

Cancelations

You have 48 hours after your order has been placed to request a cancelation. All canceled orders will face a 5 to 10% fee from the total order value. We impose this fee because within 48 hours we place orders for all raw materials needed for the order & the financial institutions charge us payment processing fees. If 48 hours have passed since you've placed your order it cannot be canceled. For deposits: All deposits are also non-refundable after 48 hours.
We do, however, reserve the right to exercise discretion on all refund requests submitted after the 48 hour period has passed.

Warranty

Quality and customer satisfaction are our topmost priorities. We proudly offer a 1-year manufacturers warranty on products with factory defects. Please be informed that this warranty does not cover the natural wear and tear of the product. However, in many cases, we can resolve issues with small replacement parts, ensuring your system remains in optimal condition.
